Introduced in 1991 as the Carver 28 Aft Cabin, this
boat went through several name changes in subsequent years. From
1993-94 she was called the 300 Aft Cabin. In 1995—when an
integral swim platform was added to the hull—she became the 325 Aft
Cabin; and finally in 1999 she became the 326 Motor Yacht. For
many, it's difficult to see the appeal of such a small double-cabin
design. There's no way to avoid a cramped interior, and the
top-heavy profile of any small flybridge boat is bound to be ungainly.
That said, the 325/326 was built on a very beamy hull to get as much
interior volume below as possible. A lower would be standard,
and wraparound cabin windows make the salon seem larger than it
actually is. Lacking its own head, the aft cabin is
thoughtfully fitted with a sink and vanity. (Note that the
double berth in the aft cabin extends slightly below the salon sole.)
Outside, the small aft deck barely has enough room for a couple of
deck chairs, and there's seating for three on the small flybridge.
Upgrades in 1997 included an aft deck hardtop and a radar arch.
Standard 300hp gas engines cruise at 18-20 mph (28-30 mph top).
